"Ready For The Floor" - Hot Chip
HAVANA (AP) - Nearly five decades after Fidel Castro rose to power in Cuba, presiding over the island nation with a fierce and unforgiving dictatorial hand, the 81-year-old, ailing leader announced today that he will step down as president.
"I will not aspire to, nor will I accept the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief," Castro wrote. "I wish only to fight as a soldier of ideas. ... Perhaps my voice will be heard."
